Renton, Seattle & Tacoma

About Us

Cedar River Clinics, run by the Feminist Women’s Health Center (FWHC), has provided compassionate reproductive health care, birth control, and abortions for over 30 years.

FWHC was founded in Yakima in 1979 by two young women who wanted woman-centered health care in their community. Subsequently clinics in Renton and Tacoma were added when their physician-owners retired from medicine and the name Cedar River Clinics was adopted.  In 2014, we acquired Aurora Medical Services and opened our Seattle clinic.  For more information on our history, visit www.fwhc.org.

Cedar River Clinics is a social justice organization that combines direct services (abortion, birth control, reproductive healthcare), with advocacy and activism (to preserve and ensure access) and community education (to demystify health information and empower health decisions.)

MISSION: To achieve reproductive freedom, we provide abortion and reproductive health services and information, so women may determine their own destinies.

VISION: We have a vision of a world where all women freely make their own decisions regarding their bodies, reproduction, and sexuality — a world where all women can fulfill their own unique potential and live healthy whole lives.

  • We trust and respect women’s decisions. One in three women will have an abortion in their lifetimes.
  • We value the equality of all regardless of age, ethnicity, language, income, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, body size, nationality, cultural heritage, religion or political views.
  • We believe reproductive and sexual freedoms are fundamental human rights for all worldwide.

Physicians and health professionals at Cedar River Clinics are abortion care experts with many years experience. As the only AAAHC, accredited abortion provider in Washington, our clinics meet the rigorous standards for quality set by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Centers.

What Is Eco-Feminism?

It’s a day that many of us associate with recycling and celebrating trees, wildlife and rivers. And as a recreational tree-hugger, I can appreciate those traditional connotations of Earth Day.

How is this a "win" or "resolution"?! We're happy the Hyde Amendment wasn't expanded BUT human trafficking victims still won't be able to use these funds for abortion. A true win would be abolishment of the Hyde Amendment. This political "compromise" is still compromising the health and future of trafficking victims...and the Hyde Amendment is still compromising women's rights.

Senate 'Resolves' Fight over Abortion Provision in Sex Trafficking Bill

jezebel.com

After a month of arguing, the Senate has reached a weird little compromise that will allow a bill to pass that aids victims of sex trafficking. It got held up because Senate Republicans were concerned some of those sex trafficking victims might need abortion care.
